Individual contributor role reporting into Senior Brand Manager

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Brand Communication Manager will be an integral member of this well known luxury brand global provider of men’s and women’s fashions.  This position takes a key role in planning, developing, and leading the execution of brand marketing & communication strategies and public relations activities, both external and internal.   Responsibilities typically include:

  • Engage and communicate in a consistently professional manner with colleagues, consumers, suppliers, and retailers

  • Carry out cross-functional tasks to ensure that all necessary responsibilities are completed
  • Dares to meet new standards while staying true company’s heritage
  • Consistently looks for new and exciting opportunities to increase visibility through public relations

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for maintaining external communications from a press, retailer, and brand perspective in alignment with overall corporate goals.  Becomes the main PR and event contact person and fulfills marketing efforts in promoting the brand.  Work collaboratively with other Brand Digital Officer and visual production agencies.  Order visual materials, execute events, and update retailers on media co-op expectations.

Strategy and Budgeting

  • Plan and establish communication objectives and priorities for the direction of the brand in conjunction with standards and requirements set by Canadian corporate and global Head Offices
  • Determine annual market-specific marketing and communications goals
  • Generate, analyze, and present reports on communications activities and future plans
  • Prepare annual budget considering affiliate and retailer objectives and priorities
  • Review actual results against budget, and prepare commentary to highlight material variances
  • Update annual plan at least quarterly to facilitate monitoring of budget
  • Institute and utilize departmental KPI’s and performance measurements
  • Conduct an annual marketing and communications review of all retailer accounts to evaluate their adherence to company values and guidelines.

Public Relations and Communications

  • Adapt the corporate communications plan for the Canadian market and plan activities and press trip offerings according to priorities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets across Canada; interact with media at sponsorship and press events and conduct internal product presentations
  • Act as the primary contact for all Canadian press inquiries; respond promptly and strategically to requests for photo shoots, images, and information
  • Pitch press releases, new product information, and philanthropic program announcements to media outlets with the goal of increasing Canadian exposure
  • Review copy used for retailer projects, including blogs, magazines, email marketing campaigns, and websites
  • Develop press releases for our national retailers in advance of new store openings or remodels
  • Manage tracking of media coverage; analyze and produce reports for various stakeholders
  • Create and distribute internal communications material

Marketing and Special Projects

  • Oversee corporate and co-op print and digital advertising activities; enhance our digital presence
  • Generate annual Business Reviews that analyze retailer’s advertising and sales performance
  • Attend various sponsorship events as a representative of the brand
  • Organize and prepare various special projects and other tasks as required
  • Conduct digital mystery shopping

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • University degree in a related field (Marketing, PR, or Communications).
  • Experience in luxury brands (fashion/beauty consumer goods or retail) marketing and/or communications a must
  • Knowledge in Digital Performance Marketing, Google SEO/SEM/E-commerce
  • 8 – 12 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated, with drive to learn and impact favourable change
  • Highly attentive to detail, good time management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Critical thinker, ability to problem solve and exercise good judgment
  • Comfortable working under strict deadlines and balancing several tasks simultaneously while prioritizing deadlines
  • Fluency in French an asset
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign an advantage
  • Some overnight travel required
